Snowman Winter Wonder Square

Snowman Winter Wonder Snowman

I am so excited today to be kicking off our Winter Wonder Squares project. Each days square represents what the season of winter means to each designer. Scroll through the page you will find where it says “FREE RAVELRY DOWNLOAD” most of us use affiliate advertising and would be very appreciative if you would let the ads load while scrolling as this allows us all to benefit from this event.

Design

My square is that of a snowman. I grew up in the UK where we did not get to see alot of snow, but watching American TV shows taught us you were supposed to have that “White Christmas” feeling. I can probably count the amount of snowmen I’ve made on one hand. However, there is still hope.
I now live in New York, with our first big snow storm of the winter scheduled to hit us today. So as I’m writing this we are trying to prep for an amount of snow I only thought existed on TV!! The up side of not seeing snow as a child means I still see the purity of it, not just the inconvenience it sends. I hope I will be making snowmen into my old age and be able to keep that winter wonder in my life.

How long does it take?

This square may take a little longer to complete since it is a tapestry crochet square. It took me about 3 hours to make, this was taking a little longer as I was correcting mistakes and tweaking the pattern as I went. It is definitely a done in an evening project though.
Don’t have time to make it now? Pin in for later.

Dependant on how tight your gauge was the tapestry can sometimes pull tight leaving you with a 7 X 7 square. If this is the case you can add a border along the outside edge.

Border
Join colour C in the last sc. Ch 2 hdc in first sc of row. Hdc around all four sides, to make corners hdc 2, ch 1 hdc 2 in first and last stitch of the first and last row. Repeat this row 1 more time.
