Little Boy Blue, Free Hat Pattern

Little Boy Blue

As promised here is my first free pattern. This pattern was made as a newborn hat using Lion Brands Feels Like Butta Yarn which is so soft and easy to work with I just couldn’t resist making a baby hat with it. It produces a perfect lightweight beanie keeping your tiny ones snug but not too hot!

You can also purchase an Ad free PDF version over on my Ravelry page that includes sizes newborn to teen.
This blog will only show newborn size for free

Without further ado, onto the pattern.

Special Instructions

1       I like to use this technique to prevent gaps in the join line of beanies. Every row will be worked with its first stitch in the same space as the turning chain.

2      In Rows 13 and 14 all Dc will be in Colour A and all puff stitches will be Colour B.

To find the placement for your second earflap fold the hat in half, you will want to line it up so there are less sts in the back of the head than the front. Join colour A on the RS of your work and work rows 1-6 as in earflap 1.

Cast off and sew in all ends. Finally to add that finishing touch Join colour B and SC around the entire edge of the hat and earflaps. Break yarn and sew in ends.

For advice on exact hat sizing here is the sizing chart I love to use for all my hats.
